An unpredictable and philosophical conversation between two creative minds who have both worked with and been inspired the Arctic. The world famous American artist Laurie Anderson talks about the Arctic with the Icelandic poet and writer Sjón.
This was the sixth event in Denmark under the headline ‘Arctic Imagination’: an artistic brainstorm about the disappearing ice and the increasing temperatures across the Atlantic Ocean.
In just 100 years, the Arctic and the North Pole have gone from dangerous, mysterious peripheral areas to regions, which, in the race against climate change, are now in need of our protection and sense of responsibility. In 2017, the libraries will be focusing on this theme in ‘Arctic Imagination’ – a series of events, readings and live conversations in New York, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo and Nuuk. In a unique cooperation across the Atlantic Ocean, a wide range of artists and high-profile voices will contribute to an international brainstorm in this field. Along with the great historical collections of the libraries revolving around the Arctic as a point of departure and a source of inspiration, this project will take on the intellectual and artistic challenge that the Arctic constitutes.
